Zuck's new goal is an open-source AGI
Mark Zuckerberg said Meta is working hard to create artificial general intelligence (AGI)
Hello, tech-titans! Welcome to 'The AI Kitchen,' where we're cooking up the tastiest trends in the world of Artificial Intelligence.
Here’s what happened this week:
Microsoft introduces Copilot Pro
'New era of mobile AI' with the new Samsung's launch
How to create 3D assets from text
AI is a key theme at the Davos World Economic Forum
Zuck's new goal is an open-source AGI
Let's dive in.
Microsoft introduces Copilot Pro
Microsoft has introduced Copilot Pro, a premium version of their Copilot chatbot, to improve AI in Microsoft 365 apps.
Highlights:
Copilot Pro Features: For $20 a month, you get advanced AI in Office apps and early access to the latest OpenAI models.
Availability: It's for people with Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans and includes a new feature called Copilot GPT Builder.
Copilot for Businesses: Small businesses can now use Copilot for Microsoft 365, starting at $30 per user each month.
Changes to Free Version: The free Copilot used to offer GPT-4 all the time but now will only do so during non-busy times.
Mobile App Launch: Microsoft also launched the Copilot app for iOS and Android.
Why it's important: Microsoft's new features, like the GPT Builder and mobile apps, show they are serious about adding AI to their products. However, limiting free access to GPT-4 might disappoint some users who were used to having it available anytime without paying.

Add ChatGPT to your website as a customer support assistant
Imagine training ChatGPT on your data and using it as a customer service guru on your website. It can handle most of the customers' questions in any language.
So, you can do it with Craftman. Answer your visitors’ questions quickly with a ChatGPT chatbot trained on your data. Easily add the AI chat widget to your website for faster support.
'New era of mobile AI' with the new Samsung's launch
Samsung just showed off their new Galaxy S24 smartphone series at the Unpacked conference. These phones have lots of new AI features for things like talking, taking pictures, and playing games, using Google's Gemini AI model.
Highlights:
Live Translate: This lets you translate voices and texts in real-time during phone calls, without extra apps. The AI works right on the phone.
AI Camera System: The camera can edit backgrounds, move subjects around, take better night photos, and zoom in really far (up to 100x) to make things clear in low light or from far away.
Circle to Search: You can draw a circle around anything in a photo or video to get information from Google using AI.
Faster AI Responses: The AI in the phone works faster because it doesn't need to connect to the cloud.
Pricing: There are three models - the S24 Ultra for $1,299.99, the S24+ for $999, and the S24 for $799.
Why it's important: This is a big step in putting AI into smartphones. Even though not every feature might be a hit with customers, Samsung could be the first to really show everyday people how cool AI can be in phones.
How to create 3D assets from text
Luma Labs has a new tool called Genie that can make 3D models from what you write.
Highlights:
Start by Going to Genie: Log in and make a free account.
Describe What You Want: Under the 'Imagine' tab, write down what you want your 3D model to look like.
Choose Your Model: Genie will show you four different versions of what you asked for. Pick the one you like best, or try again to get more choices or change your description.
Download and Customize: After you choose the model you like, you can download it in different file formats. You can also make it better or get more variations.

AI is a key theme at the Davos World Economic Forum
AI is a big topic at this week's World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Leaders like Sam Altman, Satya Nadella, Yann LeCun, and Mustafa Suleyman are there to talk about it.
Highlights:
OpenAI and the Pentagon: OpenAI said they're working with the Pentagon on keeping computer systems safe. This is a big change from their old rule against using ChatGPT for military stuff.
Fighting Election Misinformation: The creators of ChatGPT are making new ways to spot images made by DALL-E and setting up more rules to stop people from misusing it.
AI and Clean Energy: Altman mentioned that using clean energy is really important for training huge AI models. He thinks the future of AI will depend on new energy ideas.
Global Rules for AI: Nadella thinks the world needs to agree on rules for using AI. He believes most people are starting to agree on what those rules should be.
Why it's important: AI being a major topic at a meeting of the world's most powerful people shows how important it is. This year's discussions are a chance for leaders around the world to work together on how to use AI safely and effectively.
Zuck's new goal is an open-source AGI
Mark Zuckerberg said Meta is working hard to create artificial general intelligence (AGI). He wants to share this technology with everyone to help the world.
Highlights:
Meta's AI Teams: Meta's FAIR and GenAI research groups are joining forces to build AGI, share it responsibly, and make it useful for everyone.
Current Work: Right now, they're working on training an AI called Llama-3.
Huge AI Resources: By the end of 2024, Meta plans to have 350,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, which would cost about $10.5 billion.
AGI in Everyday Life: Zuckerberg thinks AGI will mostly work with people through AR/VR headsets, like Meta's Ray-Ban Stories glasses.
Skepticism Inside Meta: Even though Zuckerberg is excited, Meta's Chief Scientist Yann LeCun isn't sure AGI will happen soon.
Why it's important: Mark Zuckerberg's video and Sam Altman's words in Davos make people think AGI might be closer than we thought. The really big deal is Meta's plan to share AGI with everyone. This could make AGI more available to all kinds of people, unlike other companies that keep their AI secret.
