Pause AI!
Let's dive in.
Zoom + OpenAI
Zoom announced their new partnership with OpenAI to take their tech to the next level. Here's a quick rundown of what Zoom IQ can do:
Summarize missed meeting content and answer follow-up questions like a boss
Generate whiteboards based on text prompts - no artistic talent required!
Recap meetings and summarize threads in Zoom Team Chat - because who wants to read a novel when you can get the cliff notes version?
Generate AI-powered responses to colleagues, similar to ChatGPT in Slack. That's right, folks - we're taking over the world!
Starting in April, these features will be available by invitation only, but some of the meeting summary capabilities will be more widely available.
Zoom's clearly working hard to keep up with the big dogs like Google and Microsoft, who are racing to develop the most powerful AI tech out there. But with Zoom IQ on their side, they just might come out on top. Watch out, world!
Will AI replace all of us? [Goldman Sachs Research]
Goldman Sachs released a research report on AI that's causing quite a stir. Here are the main points:
AI is a potential game-changer and could boost the global GDP by a whopping 7% over the next decade. That's some serious cheddar!
But, on the flip side, if generative AI becomes the norm, then as much as 7% of workers could lose their jobs entirely in 10 years. Say it ain't so!
And get this - AI could automate up to 18% of the global workforce. That's a lot of bots!
According to the report, AI could replace 46% of administrative jobs and 44% of legal jobs. Sorry, legal eagles - you might want to start learning how to code!
But wait, there's more! Goldman Sachs is optimistic about the future and believes that AI's productivity boost could be two-fold. Employees will spend their time doing more valuable work, and those that are displaced will eventually be re-employed.
So, what's the takeaway? Don't be afraid of AI! Embrace it, learn from it, and use it to your advantage. Keep an open mind and be willing to learn new skills as technology transforms the employment environment.
Until next time, peace out!
Connect GPT-4 to your brain
Guess what just happened! Fireship just made a video that’s blowing everyone's mind. This guy hooked up this device called the Crown to GPT-4 and controlled it with his thoughts, using just basic JavaScript programming.
If you’re wondering what the Crown is, it’s like Neuralink, but instead of implanting an entire chip into your brain, you just wear it on your head. Here's how it works:
Tiny electrodes on the back of your head measure your brainwaves.
It connects to a mobile app via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
It provides tools to enhance focus and access raw data in JSON.
This experiment gives us a sneak peek into a future where everyone (well, at least the rich folks) will have access to all the knowledge in the world not just at their fingertips, but through their own brains! Now, that's what I call being brainy!
Google partners with Replit to better write code
The news is out: Replit, the online IDE that makes software development a breeze, just teamed up with Google Cloud. And let me tell you, this partnership is going to change the game for over 20 million Replit developers.
Here's the takeaways on what's happening:
Google Cloud is letting Replit devs use their infrastructure, foundation models, and generative AI services
This shows that Google Cloud is all about creating an open ecosystem for AI-generated code, and that they're putting their money where their mouth is
Replit's mission to empower 1 billion software creators is one step closer to becoming a reality, thanks to this partnership
And if that's not enough to make your head spin, Github has dropped Copilot X recently.
Pause AI
Elon Musk and a group of AI experts, including researchers from Google DeepMind, have raised concerns over the capabilities of GPT-4 and are calling for a six-month pause in developing more powerful AI systems.
It started with this viral tweet where they published an open letter.
Here's what they proposed:
Pause developing AI systems more powerful than GPT-4 for six months
Ensure that the effects of powerful AI systems will be positive and manageable
The concerns stem from GPT-4's ability to:
Engage users in human-like conversations
Compose songs
Summarize lengthy documents
And do many other incredible things
However, the letter has received backlash due to a lack of verification in signing it. Yann LeCun from Meta denied signing the letter and completely disagreed with the premise.
After reading the story between Sam and Elon, it reminds me this tweet...
