The first major AI Act
The European Parliament has just made a huge step by approving the Artificial Intelligence Act, setting up the most detailed rules in the world for AI.
Hey there, tech-titans and digital culinary connoisseurs! Welcome to The AI Kitchen, where we slice, dice, and cook up the hottest trends in artificial intelligence with a side of humor!

Let's dive in.
ChatGPT in the Figure's robot body
Figure AI just showed off a cool demo where they teamed up with an OpenAI model to make their robot, Figure 01, chat, see, and do tasks all on its own.
Highlights:
Talking and Doing: In the demo, Figure 01 chats away, sorts dishes, and does things based on what's happening around it.
Smart Moves: Everything Figure 01 does, it learned itself; there's no one controlling it from afar, and it moves like a real person.
Thinking Ahead: The robot can plan its actions and remember what happened before, even explaining why it did something.
Fast Teamwork: This demo comes out just 13 days after Figure and OpenAI decided to work together, right after Figure got a big money boost of $675 million.
Why it's important: Seeing what Figure AI and OpenAI have done in just 13 days is mind-blowing. Figure 01 isn't just showing off its smooth moves; it's also thinking and chatting thanks to some super smart AI tech. This is just the start — just wait until they add GPT-5 into the mix!

AI software engineer
Cognition AI just dropped Devin, a super-smart AI buddy that can whip up entire software projects on its own, just from a few words you tell it.
Highlights:
Smart Coder: Devin isn't just any assistant; it can handle big coding projects with lots of steps all by itself.
Learning on the Go: This AI isn't just coding; it's learning, fixing mistakes, and working with people as it goes.
Quick Builder: In demo, Devin has thrown together websites and apps in less than 10 minutes and even nailed jobs on Upwork solo.
Breaking Records: On coding tests, Devin fixed 13.86% of real problems from GitHub, which is way better than the old record of 1.96%.
Why it's important: Cognition AI is on the verge of changing the game, not just making a better helper for coders but creating an AI that's practically a software developer. Devin's debut could be our first peek at a world where making software doesn't need you to know programming, just your imagination and the right commands.
The first major AI Act
The European Parliament has just made a huge step by approving the Artificial Intelligence Act, setting up the most detailed rules in the world for AI.
Highlights:
Off-Limits AI: Certain AI applications are now banned, like using AI for facial recognition of personal traits, scoring social behavior, and AI that can trick people or take advantage of them.
Rules for Risky AI: AI that could be risky in areas like public services, schools, and jobs must now meet tough requirements, including checks for dangers, making clear how they work, and having people oversee them.
Mixed Feelings: Some businesses are worried these new rules will hold them back, while groups that watch out for people's rights think the rules don't do enough.
Phased Start: The rules won't all kick in at once; some will start as soon as six months after the law is officially in place.
Why it's important: This AI Act is trying to set the bar worldwide for how AI should be kept in check, but there's a worry it might make it harder for AI businesses in Europe to keep up. Even with the debates, this big step could shape how countries everywhere think about managing AI and change the path of AI development.

AI images (consistency with characters in Midjourney)
This week, Midjourney launched a feature to create consistent characters. How to do it?
Go to Midjourney’s Discord
Type "--cref URL" with your message and add a link to a picture of a character.
Use "--cw" with a number from 100 to 0 to change how much of the character's look you want to use.
If you pick 100 (--cw 100), it will use the character's face, hair, and clothes. If you choose 0 (--cw 0), it will only focus on the face, which is useful if you want to change things like hair.
