Let's dive in.
Hollywood studios want actors' AI replicas
It's Hollywood chaos time! More than 170,000 Hollywood stars are raising the roof with their demands. Lights, camera, strike!
Highlights:
Actors want to make sure AI doesn't take their jobs and they want more money and guarantees for their work. It's like a big protest in the movie world!
The strike is affecting famous movie studios like Disney, Netflix, Amazon, and Sony. And guess what? Some awesome movies, like Beetlejuice 2, Deadpool 3, Gladiator 2, Mortal Kombat 2, and Venom 3, might be delayed because of the strike!
The strike is getting support from some of our favorite stars, like George Clooney, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, and others! They are standing together to make things fair for everyone.
So, why does all this matter? Well, it's because AI is becoming a big deal in many places, and Hollywood is just the start. We're only seeing the beginning of what AI can do!
And yes, it reminds the Black mirror episode.
Meta introduced their AI image generator
Meta just unleashed their latest AI model called CM3leon.
Highlights:
It can make up stories and draw pictures based on other words and pictures you give it.
And get this, it's super smart! It does the text-to-image thing with way less computer power than before. That means it's faster and cooler!
CM3leon can also make up captions for images and answer questions about pictures.
Oh, and here's something really cool! It's the first model that learned from text-only stuff and became amazing at pictures too!
Even though it learned from a smaller set of words (only 3 billion tokens), it's still as good as bigger models! Meta's on a roll with their AI stuff!
Apple joins the AI race with 'Apple GPT'
Apple is finally joining the AI party! They're coming up with their very own artificial intelligence tools, and one of them is an awesome chatbot called "Apple GPT"!
Highlights:
Apple created a special thing called "Ajax" (not the cleaning stuff, haha) and put their new chatbot, "Apple GPT," into their own systems.
Get this, Apple GPT is ready to take on the big AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Bard!
And here's the best part: next year, they're planning to give us a taste of their AI magic with an AI product!
Well, Apple is a bit late to the AI game, but they have all the right tools - their awesome devices, software, and the cool world they already built! They might just become a big challenger to other chatbots out there!
Maybe Siri, the voice in our phones, finally turns into the super-smart JARVIS from the movies.
Custom ChatGPT: new OpenAI's epic update
OpenAI just dropped an awesome update for ChatGPT called 'Custom Instructions'! It's like giving ChatGPT a special memory boost for better and smarter responses!
Highlights:
With Custom Instructions, you can tell ChatGPT to remember two things you say, each up to 1500 characters long! It's like having a super smart chat buddy who never forgets!
Right now, this cool feature is in Beta mode for Plus users (except in the UK and EU). But don't worry, free users will get it soon too!
To get it working, click on the three dots under your ChatGPT history. Then go to Settings & Beta, and finally, click on Beta Features and turn on Custom Instructions! Easy-peasy!
And that's not all! OpenAI also boosted the message cap for GPT-4 from 25 to 50 every 3 hours! More chatting fun for everyone!
And guess what? Some folks are already showing off the cool stuff they did with ChatGPT in just 12 hours! Like, Nick Dobos recreated a babyAGI inside ChatGPT, and Roman Semenov jailbroke ChatGPT against previous instructions!
Meta released Llama2, an open-source ChatGPT competitor
Meta (you know, the big brain behind Facebook) just did something super cool! They released their big language model called LlamA 2🦙 It's like ChatGPT, and they're letting everyone use it!
Highlights:
LlamA 2 is a smarty-pants! It's even better than GPT3 and just as good as ChatGPT for chatting with us. But, it's not so great with coding stuff.
Safety first, you know! Meta made sure LlamA 2 is super safe to use. They did lots of tests to keep us safe online!
You can use LlamA 2 for your cool projects, but if you have more than 700 million friends using it, you'll need to ask Meta first.
And guess what? They're teaming up with Microsoft for a big partnership! LlamA 2 will be hanging out with Microsoft's Azure platform!
But that's not all! They're also getting help from Qualcomm. Together, they'll put LlamA 2 into laptops, phones, and headsets starting in 2024! Mind-blowing, right?
And the fun doesn't stop there! You can find LlamA 2 on other cool places like AWS and Hugging Face too! It's like LlamA 2 is making friends all over the AI world!
By the way, there are some websites hosting LlamA 2 already. But the one called Perplexity.
