Let's dive in.
Bard can speak and understands images
Google launched the new update of their chatty buddy, Bard! It's available in over 40 languages and making its grand entrance into the European Union.
Highlights:
Listen up, multilingual folks! Bard can respond to you in all 40+ languages. That's right, you can have a good ol' chat with Bard (text-to-voice), no matter which language you prefer. Talk about being a master of languages!
Bard gets a fancy upgrade with integration to Google Lens. Now you can upload images along with your prompts, making it all the more fun and interactive. It's like having a visual conversation with your AI buddy.
Want to set the mood for your conversation? Bard lets you adjust the tone and style of its responses. You can choose between simple, long, short, professional, or casual tones. It's like having a conversation with an AI comedian or a fancy-schmancy professor.
Sharing is caring, right? Well, Bard understands that. You can now share its responses via links. That means you can collaborate with others, share ideas, and have a good old brainstorming session.
Bard is well-traveled and well-spoken. It's available in over 40 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, Spanish, and more. It's like having a global conversation right at your fingertips. Bonjour, hola, konnichiwa, and more!
Bard's possibilities have significantly increased, my friends. Get ready for some AI awesomeness!
Musk started xAI, a new AI company
Hold on to your hats, folks, because Elon Musk is at it again with his new AI venture called xAI! This time, he's out to unravel the secrets of the universe. Buckle up for a cosmic ride!
Highlights:
They've got folks with experience from DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto. Talk about a star-studded cast!
And they've got the safety master himself, Dan Hendrycks, serving as the director of the Center for AI Safety. Safety first, folks!
xAI is a separate company from X Corp, but don't you worry, they're going to be working closely with X (that's Twitter, by the way), Tesla, and other companies to make some serious progress. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Now, here's where things get interesting. The launch of xAI seems to contradict Musk's recent statements about putting AI development on hold to avoid "civilization destruction." But hey, who can resist the allure of the universe, right?
Regardless of the contradictions, one thing is for sure: xAI has assembled a crew of brilliant minds, and we'll be keeping a close eye on their cosmic journey.
Stability AI unveils sketch-to-image
Stability AI launched Stable Doodle, the new sketch-to-image model.
Highlights:
Stable Doodle accepts both your sketch and a descriptive prompt to guide the magical process of image generation.
The quality of the output depends on the level of detail in your initial drawing and the prompt you provide. So go ahead and be as creative as you want—the better the input, the more magnificent the output!
Stability AI brings out the big guns with the latest Stable Diffusion model and the T2I-Adapter, a fancy "conditional control solution" that adds an extra touch of brilliance to your creations.
It offers precise control over image generation, so you can fine-tune every stroke and bring your vision to life.
But wait, there's more! Stability AI, the mastermind behind this creative wonder, was last valued at a whopping $1 billion. And rumor has it, they're aiming to quadruple that value in the next few months. Talk about painting the town red!
Our take on all this? It's not just cool; it's ice-cold! Stable Doodle is set to make a splash in various industries, including interior design and real estate. Who knew your doodles could have real-world applications?
Anthropic launched Claude 2, a serious ChatGPT’s competitor
Anthropic, a company founded by ex-OpenAI employees, launched the second version of their language model, Claude 2. And it's good!
Highlights:
Claude 2 can summarize up to a whopping 75,000 words! That's right, it's like Chatty ChatGPT's big brother, flexing its summarization muscles with an impressive leap from ChatGPT's 3,000-word limit.
Claude-2's got the freshest knowledge in town, with a cutoff in early 2023, while GPT-4 is stuck in September 2021.
Claude 2 outperforms GPT4 on the GRE writing, HumanEval coding, and even the Bar exam.
But that's not all! Claude 2 also has some slick abilities similar to the ChatGPT Code Interpreter.
Need to summarize an entire PDF? No problemo! Claude 2 can handle the big leagues. Just import that hefty document, sit back, and let Claude 2 work its magic.
Here's the icing on the cake: Claude 2 won't break the bank! It's 5 times cheaper than GPT-4 for developers. Claude 2 will cost you $0.011 for input prompts and $0.032 for the output prompts (100k tokens). GPT4-32k will cost $0.06 and $0.12. GPT3.5-32k will cost you $0.003 & $0.0004, respectively (32k tokens).
Now, you may be wondering, why does all of this matters? Well, my friends, Claude 2 is here to give ChatGPT a run for its money. And you know what that means? It's a race for AI greatness. More competition means faster AI developments, mind-bending innovations, and endless possibilities.
