Let's dive in.
AI decodes 2,000-year-old ancient scroll
AI technology has just made a big discovery by reading text from a burnt scroll that is 2,000 years old. This scroll was found in a huge library in Herculaneum, a place that was covered in ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D.
Highlights:
$1M Contest: Nat Friedman, who used to be the CEO of GitHub, put up a million dollars for a challenge. He wanted people to read Greek writing from very old and damaged scrolls using scans.
Ancient Scrolls: These scrolls were found in the 1700s but no one could read them because they were too damaged.
AI to the Rescue: The winning team used AI to find patterns that people couldn't see. Thanks to this, they could read more than 2,000 letters that were previously hidden.
Why it's important: AI isn't just about creating new things for the future; it's also showing us secrets from the past. Being able to read texts that were thought to be lost forever might change what we know about history.

Microsoft brings AI to Super Bowl!
Microsoft just marked the one-year anniversary of Copilot with big updates and a new Super Bowl ad.
Highlights:
New Interface: Copilot's look has been updated to be sleeker and easier to use, with a new carousel for prompt suggestions.
Image Editing: Users can now tweak images right in their chats, like changing colors or making the background blurry.
Pro Features: If you subscribe to Copilot Pro, you can resize and make new images, and soon you'll get to use 'Designer GPT' directly.
Super Bowl Ad: Microsoft is back at the Super Bowl with an ad for the first time in four years. This ad will focus on Copilot and won't talk about Bing at all.
Why it's important: Microsoft seems to be moving away from Bing Chat and putting all its efforts into Copilot. The Super Bowl ad shows that Microsoft wants everyone to see Copilot as an AI helper, not just a way to search the internet.
Gemini Ultra is finally here
Google has renamed its AI chatbot from Bard to Gemini and introduced big improvements, including a mobile app and the Ultra model everyone has been waiting for.
Highlights:
Ultra Model Access: Gemini Advanced users can now use Ultra 1.0, Google's best AI model, which is as good as GPT-4.
Subscription Plan: You can get to the Advanced model by paying $19.99 a month for Google One AI Premium, which costs the same as ChatGPT Plus.
Mobile App: There's a new Gemini app for phones in the U.S. It lets you get help by typing, talking, or showing pictures.
Google Assistant Features: The Android app can do things like make phone calls, control your smart home devices, and use information from other Google apps.
Digital Watermark: Images made with Gemini will have a special hidden mark to show they're made by AI.
Available in Canada: Gemini is now in Canada, where people can use it in English and French.
Why it's important: Google finishing the change to Gemini is a big deal. It means the competition in AI chatbots is getting more intense. Now that Ultra is challenging ChatGPT's top spot, everyone's waiting to see how OpenAI will respond.
