Let's dive in.
Amazon joins the AI game: LLM that outperforms GPT-3.5
Two big news from Amazon this week.
First, Amazon's new Multimodal-CoT AI model is slaying the game! It combines text and image inputs to outperform GPT-3.5 by a whopping 16%, and it's even smarter than humans on the ScienceQA benchmark (except in social sciences, but we won't hold that against it). And get this: the Multimodal-CoT only has 738 million parameters, while GPT3.5 has 175 billion.
That's like beating your big bro in a math contest with only a basic calculator!
This model generates intermediate reasoning chains before inferring answers, making it a knowledge acquisition superstar. So get ready, folks, because these AIs are about to get a whole lot smarter!
Alright, here's a second piece of news.
Amazon is finally stepping up to compete with the OG ChatGPT. First, it was OpenAI and Microsoft, then Anthropic and Google. And now, Amazon is teaming up with the AI startup Hugging Face to take on the language generation game.
They've even taken things to the next level by making it official! AWS and Hugging Face are working together to make Hugging Face's language generation tool available to cloud customers. And get this, they're building the next version of their language model, called 'BLOOM', on AWS.
But wait, there's more! They're also working on an open-source rival to ChatGPT. That's right, they're not just playing the game, they're changing the game. AWS customers can now access Hugging Face's AI tools through Amazon's SageMaker program, and Hugging Face's developers can use Amazon's cloud computing power and AI chips. This is a partnership to watch out for!
ChatGPT learns Robotics
In a world where robots are becoming more commonplace, it's only natural that we need to find ways to communicate with them. And OpenAI has come up with a genius solution – they're bringing their ChatGPT language model into the world of robotics to help us interact with our metal friends more easily.
ChatGPT has been kicking butt and taking names in the language model game, and now it's using its powers to help us control robots. With its design principles and mad model abilities, ChatGPT is making human-robot interaction more intuitive than ever before. It's helping us solve robotics tasks and control different robot form factors with ease.
So get ready to have some killer convos with your robo-pals, thanks to ChatGPT. Who knows, maybe we'll even be able to teach them how to tell a joke or two.
Tiktok for text
The Instagram co-founders are at it again, and this time they're bringing us a new news service called Artifact.
But don't roll your eyes just yet, because this one promises to be different. Yes, it's all about personalization and social networks, but they've got a secret sauce - social/interest bubbles! So, your news suggestions will be influenced by what your in-app contacts are reading.
Sounds pretty nifty, doesn't it? I mean, who doesn't want their news curated by their social circle? It's like having your very own news butler, only without the fancy outfit. I'm intrigued, are you?
A Spotify AI
Are you ready for a new way to jam to your favorite tunes?
Well, hold on to your headphones because Spotify is about to take it up a notch with their new tool called 'DJ'! It's like having your very own DJ in your earbuds, providing music suggestions, giving you background info on songs, and even chatting with you.
And the best part? It uses synthetic voice generation and generative chat to make it feel like you're chatting with a real live DJ! So get ready to turn up the volume and let 'DJ' take you on a musical journey like no other.
Generate 3D with AI
Great news for 3D enthusiasts.
First up, scientists have developed a 3D-aware generative model that can create realistic images from different viewpoints using a 2D sketch. That means you can now create and edit 3D content with explicit control of geometry and label maps. The demo's out now, so grab your coding cap and give it a whirl!
And if that's not enough to get you hyped, the Luma AI team has taken things up a notch with their volumetric photorealistic 3D rendering in real-time. You'll feel like you're actually in the scene, able to view 3D objects from all angles. Don't take my word for it though, check out the demo and see for yourself!
