3 AI predictions for 2024
Let's dive in.
Top AI Researchers earn $865k/year
A new report shows that the best AI and machine learning researchers can make almost $1 million a year. This includes their salary, bonuses, and shares in the company.
Highlights:
OpenAI pays the most, with an annual total of $865,000.
Other top-paying companies include Anthropic, Inflection, Tesla, Amazon, Google Brain (which is now part of DeepMind), TikTok, and FAIR.
On top of their regular pay, researchers can also get signing bonuses or other cash bonuses. These can add up to $700,000 over four years, but this wasn't counted in the report.
Why it's important: As companies keep competing to make the best language models, they need more and more skilled AI researchers. Because of this high demand, it's a really good time to be a top AI researcher, especially with companies like OpenAI offering huge salaries and bonuses.

How to create a high-quality AI video
AI video is the next big thing in AI. It's getting better every month. Here's the easiest way to create a high-quality video using just words.
To make your own AI video, follow these steps:
Go to Pika, one of the best video models at the moment.
Login or make a new account.
Write down what you want in your video.
Wait a few seconds while Pika makes your video.
After it's done, you can download the video, change it, or make it look better.

3 AI predictions for 2024
AI is evolving rapidly, and we're about to see some major changes in 2024. Here are our 3 predictions about the future of AI.
The Rise of AI Video
In 2023, we saw AI create texts and images. But in 2024, AI video models, like Pika 1.0, are set to transform from just fun experiments into mature products capable of lifelike results, similar to ChatGPT. Pika 1.0 already shows us high-quality short videos made from text prompts. Here is another example created with Stable Diffusion, showcasing what AI can do with video. OpenAI engineer Andrej Karpathy believes that it's only a matter of time before video models advance as much as text and image models have.
Smaller, Cheaper, Multimodal AI Models Emerge
Big AI models, like OpenAI's GPT series, began as text-only but now are multimodal, handling images, audio, and video. This year, expect these multimodal abilities to become more common and easier to use. Alongside high-end models like GPT-4 and Gemini, there will be a rise in smaller, less expensive models like Microsoft's PHI-2 and Mistral 7B. These models are designed for specific tasks and can work on less expensive hardware.
Regulation and Competition in the AI Race
As AI continues to advance, we'll witness a tight race among major players like OpenAI, Google, and Elon Musk, each striving to lead in AI innovation. Meanwhile, concerns about Advanced General Intelligence (AGI) will grow among the public, leading to increased demands for government regulation. This tension between innovation and safety will be a key theme, as policymakers struggle to balance the rapid development of AI with ethical and safety considerations.
